Web applications during exploitation should meet the appropriate performance requirements. It is good practice to perform load test system intended for a large number of users before putting into production. By placing the system (application server, database, network) under the simulated load of large number of virtual users and monitoring application performances, within configuration parameters of application server, database and operating system, as well as system loads (processors, memory and network), it is possible to assess system behavior in real circumstances. Popular load testing tools, including Oracle Application Test Suite (OATS), are considered.

Dubravko Miljković, author
Dubravko Miljković holds a Dipl. Ing., Mr. Sc. and Dr. Sc. degree from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Zagreb, Croatia. He has spent 14 months specializing speech recognition at the University of Cambridge, UK. After returning from the UK, he was employed in Croatian Measurement Society and a private company. At present, he is with Hrvatska elektroprivreda (Croatian Electricity Company) working on redundant systems (network load balancing clusters of application servers) using Oracle technology. Dr. Miljković is author of more than sixty-five scientific and professional papers. He has attended and contributed at around twenty scientific and professional conferences and is a member of IEEE and AMAC.
