For a long time now the mantra in the Oracle database world has been consolidation of databases - for easier management and most importantly (I think) due to Oracle licensing policies. But new software architectures in the modern world, namely microservices and cloud, are not really compatible with consolidation based thinking. This presentation will give arguments why you could also consider splitting up your databases ("deconsolidating" them) and how you, as a DBA, could approach administering these hundreds of small databases, that may be even distributed all over the world. How could you monitor all of them, how to approach backup and disaster recovery, security and patching. Maybe even, to quote a classic - "You don't probably need RAC".
